        April & May 2008
        Meetings & Special Events Schedule:


        Our April 2008 Business Meeting and program will be held on Thursday, April 17th at the IACC in Albany. The business meeting will begin at 7:00 pm followed by our cultural presentation.

        Our presenter will be Carl J. Basile second vice president - Wealth Management - Citigroup Smith Barney, Albany Office. He will be speaking on "The Millionaire Next Door, the Gift of Giving."

        We also will have a short program to honor all Veterans, especially the contribution of Italian Americans.

        Memorial Day is much more than a day for a picnic, come and learn more about contributions and honor our Italian American veterans. A social will follow the program and you are invited to bring some dessert with a patriotic touch to share.


        In May we will have a special cultural program in anticipating Memorial Day which will take place on Thursday, May 15 at the IACC, Albany, NY. Our business meeting will begin at 7:00 pm followed by our program.

        We have invited several Italian-American veterans to share their stories. We also will have a short program to honor all veterans, especially the contributions of Italian Americans.

        February/March 2008
        Meetings & Special Events Schedule:


        Our February 2008 Business Meeting and program will be held on Thursday, February 8th at the IACC in Albany. Our presenter will be Lewis Elia and he will speak on "The Life of Michelangelo Through His Works" with visuals.

        Lew is a retired teacher and administrator of the Schenectady City School District. He is also the author of several books, a member, and a volunteer worker at the Saratoga Springs History Museum. Our business meeting will begin at 7:00 pm to be followed by our cultural program. You are welcome to bring dessert for the social following our program.


        Easter is the most important celebration of the year and we will have a special program on Tuesday, March 4th, "Celebrating Easter With Our Italian Traditions."
        This extra program will take place at the IACC, Albany. Prof/Cav DiNovo will show beautiful slides that will help you to celebrate this Easter with Italian traditions.


        Bring your Italian Easter recipes and ideas to share and please bring a dessert to share at the social hour which follows the program. We hope those who are not able to attend our February meeting will be able to make this one!


        Our 22nd annual St. Joseph celebration will take place on Thursday, March 27th. Due to Holy Week and that the Feast of St. Joseph has been moved to Monday, March 31st, this year we will celebrate on March 27th.

        Our business meeting starts at 7:00 pm followed by our presentation. Our speaker will be announced at our February meeting. The topic is "St. Joseph, A Model For All Times." We will have a St. Joseph Table and this year we will serve Sicilian Sfingi.

        To make a reservation, send a check for $3.95 by March 17th to American Italian Heritage Association - P.O. Box 3136, Albany, NY 12203-3136. For details, call 518-435-0591. This event will take place at the Italian American Community Center in Albany.

        Please also bring canned goods for the poor, which is an important part of the tradition. Wear your Red and come to our 22nd celebration.

        Our January 2008 Business Meeting and program will be held on Thursday, January 17th. Our speaker will be Yeshewaneh Beyene and his topic will be "The Italian-Ehiopian Connection." He will show slides along with his presentation. You will also have the opportunity to meet his wife, Hainmanot Kelbessa. Yeshewaneh is a pharmacist.

        This should be a very interesting program. Business meeting will begin at 7:00 pm followed by the presentation. We invite you to bring dessert for the social which will follow the meeting.
